Art, Nature and the Human Footprint

We think we as humans are on the planet for a short time, but the earth endures. Yet we are increasingly aware that the natural environment is changing radically, because of our own actions – so much so that many think we are in a new geological era: the Anthropocene. In this innovative exhibition seven international and Andorran artists reflect on the paradoxes of living in the Anthropocene. The artists range around the world, from Greenland to Namibia, from the Mediterranean coast to the mountains of Andorra itself. Encompassing painting, sculpture, installation, photography and video, they reflect on the beauty and ephemerality of the natural world. These provocative and ambivalent works offer a new perspective on our predicament, on nature itself, and the reality we are projecting into the future for our planet, for all time.

Arte, naturaleza y la huella humana

Pensamos que nosotros, los humanos, estamos en el planeta por poco tiempo, pero la tierra perdura. Sin embargo, somos cada vez más conscientes de que el entorno natural está cambiando radicalmente debido a nuestras propias acciones, tanto que muchos piensan que estamos en una nueva era geológica: el Antropoceno. En esta innovadora exposición, siete artistas, internacionales y andorranos, reflexionan sobre las paradojas de vivir en el Antropoceno. Los artistas recorren todo el mundo, de Groenlandia a Namibia, de la costa mediterránea hasta las propias montañas de Andorra. Abarcando pintura, escultura, instalación, performance, fotografía y video, reflexionan sobre la belleza y lo efímero del mundo natural. Estas obras provocativas y ambivalentes ofrecen una nueva perspectiva sobre nuestra situación, sobre la naturaleza misma y la realidad que estamos proyectando hacia el futuro de nuestro planeta, para siempre.

Sabem que, nosaltres, com a humans, som al planeta durant un temps limitat, però la terra perdura. Tot i això, cada vegada som més conscients que l’entorn natural està canviant radicalment, i això, a causa de les nostres pròpies accions. Tant és així, que n’hi ha que pensen que estem en una nova era geològica: l’Antropocè. En aquesta exposició innovadora, set artistes, internacionals i andorrans, reflexionen sobre les paradoxes de viure a l'Antropocè. Els i les artistes recorren el món, de Groenlàndia a Namíbia, des de la costa mediterrània fins a les muntanyes andorranes. Se serveixen de la pintura, l’escultura, la instal·lació, la performance, la fotografia i el vídeo per reflexionar sobre la bellesa però també sobre el caràcter eminentment efímer del món natural. Una sèrie d’obres provocadores i ambivalents que ofereixen una nova perspectiva sobre la nostra situació, sobre la natura mateixa i sobre la realitat que estem imprimint al futur del nostre planeta, per sempre.
